POLYMITA PICTA SNAILS
POLYMITA PICTA SNAILS
These colorful snails were inspired by the Polymita Picta snail, also known as the Cuban painted snail. This species is well known for its shell varieties, the color varies depending on the diet of the snail. They’re actually quite small in real life, reaching a length of about 20 millimeters. As an endangered species they’ve been protected by Cuban legislation since 1943.
The snail body is hand-sculpted in polymer clay, the shell is cast in porcelain gypsum and carefully painted with acrylics. It’s finished with varnish and UV resin to protect their delicate eye stalks. These sculptures measure roughly and come in 3 distinctive colors. They measure about 9 x 4.5 cm.
These are uniquely handmade, so there may be minor imperfections and slight variations in the sculpt, texture and paint job. Each is truly original and one-of-a-kind!
